Fundraising Intern


  • 4 months/200 hrs

  • 10-15/wk

Compensation: Unpaid, college credit, name in project credits   

Stories Without Borders is a 501(c)3 nonprofit in Denver, CO and works independently and in strategic partnership with organizations to tell underreported stories and empower new storytellers. We’re a compassionate crew with a lot of gumption to see our projects through. We’re looking for an energetic intern to apply to grants and work under our award winning Producer/Project Manager. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Submit 4 grant applications in coordination with Executive Director before completion of internship

  • Manage coordination of annual Story Party Fun!- raiser

Summary of projects:

In addition to supporting the Executive Director, we have an internship Leadership Program. Stories Without Borders empowers interns to tell us what they would like to learn about themselves and the industry then implement that into a project at our organization to complete before they leave. You will mentored by your manager and supervisor to address the needs of the organization and we invite interns to come up with creative solutions that still benefit the skills and experience they wish to gain before they leave.

Skills Required for position:

  • Passion for storytelling, nonprofit work, and writing.

  • Desire to strengthen skills in grant writing and event planning.

  • Professional communication skills online, in person, and on the telephone.

  • You are a self starter and can work without constant supervision.

  • A sense of urgency regarding tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities.

  • Commitment to social justice issues to human rights in our office and in the world.

  • You have great reading and writing skills.

  • You have great research skills.

  • Flexibility to rise to unexpected priority shifts.

  • Confidence to try new ideas, projects, and tasks.

Suggested Skills (not a requirement):

  • Knowledge/experience in video editing (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Avid).

  • Degree or working towards a degree in: Creative Writing, Journalism, Film, Television, Nonprofit, Social Justice, Immigration, Communications, Media.

  • Passion to turn this internship into a position at Stories Without Borders.

This intern will work directly under the Executive Director and supervised by the Producer/Project Manager. We want to make sure that each person leaves with qualified skills in film, storytelling, and nonprofit management. Our program is designed to support the support of our interns and Stories Without Borders.
